Summary:
In ancient Greek course the constant designation of relationship between ancient and modern Greek language is essential for the efficient comprehension of ancient Greek language by stu-dents. Promotion of this relationship constitutes a basic teaching method in ancient Greek course. It is the reason why language teacher must focus on it during his courses. Aim of this research is the investigation of students’ original notions of relationship between ancient and modern Greek language on a lexical basis together with the application of appropriate teaching interventions so as to students be able to shape the notion of Greek language follow-up to a better vocabulary comprehension in ancient Greek language. Research constitutes a case study of 3rd class second-ary school which includes 21 students and belongs to the mixed paradigm combining quantitative and quality research tools (questionnaires, focus group and observation). During quantitative and quality data analysis, findings have arisen which reflect gradual awareness of ancient and modern Greek language relationship from students but require further systematic establishment in the longer term.
