Automatic Exposure Control on a modern CT scanner: mA modulation and correlation with size metrics of a patient
Summary:
Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) is one of the most important technologies used to reduce dose and mA modulation in modern CT scanners. AEC aims to automatically modulate the tube current in order to compensate the different variations in patient attenuation. The system of automatic exposure control was used in the University Hospital of Crete on a General Electric Revolution GSI CT scanner of 64 slices in clinical examinations of abdomen and thorax. In this work was studied the patient size specific metric and were correlated with tube current modulation.
