Summary:
The purpose of this research was to examine the level of use of digital academic libraries and academic information sources from undergraduate and postgraduate students of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In the questionnaire survey, 54 undergraduates and 55 postgraduate students (total 109) of the Primary Education Department participated. The results showed among other things that students visit the library to a small extent but they do not use the library's electronic catalog very often, as well as other known databases or digital sources. Students generally have a satisfactory level of basic digital literacy skills and information for educational purposes. What is particularly valuable in the results is that students are relatively less focused on librarians searching for digital resources while they are more targeted at their fellow students / teachers and their teachers. The results showed, among other things, that the home computer for both categories of students is the most important means of accessing information and searching for digital sources and information. Another finding of the work is that students are largely using criteria for evaluating digital resources and information such as who owns the site and the scientific status of the author. Significant results include students' positive attitudes towards the ease of use of digital resources and information, as well as the usefulness of digital resources and information they use. The present study also showed that students believe that there are specific problems that prevent them from fully accessing and searching for digital knowledge and information. The lack of availability of computers, as well as the lack of largely free digital books and the lack of staff for help are the most important problems. In general, the present study has shown that undergraduate and postgraduate students want to be trained on various aspects of digital sources or believe that the existence of some conditions will facilitate them in this access. Above all, they want an online handbook on academic resources and information, as well as a training course.
