The role of physical therapy interventions in the management of chronic pain of musculoskeletal disorders in the victims of torture.
Summary:
Musculoskeletal, neurological and psychological disorders arising from torture leave the survivors of torture adrift in the revival of their experiences. The presence of pain even years after torture limits people’s everyday life while the holistic therapeutic intervention could be the solution to improve these symptoms.
The systematic review of the scientific articles is the basic research tool of the present study. The presentation of the research seems to relate the development of chronic pain after torture and the use of physiotherapy techniques as an intervention measure to torture victims.
The emergence of chronic pain is unbreakable linked to the methods of torture. The outcomes of the investigation of the role of Physiotherapy in the chronic pain of these individuals were limited and it is difficult to count in one or another opinion’s favour. From a few scientific articles which were found it seemed that Physiotherapy may help to improve chronic pain.
