The digital narrative as a means of expressing experiential histories of immigration and adaptation in Greece "the case of women of Albanian origin
Summary:
Digital stories are short personal narratives that make multimedia contributions. The process of creating a digital narrative offers starting points for critical thinking, creative self-expression, collaboration, and dialogue on issues that are often silent and marginalized. These digital narratives are framed by the narrator's voice in combination with moving and still images to give the narrative vividness.
The central theme of the work is the digital narrative as a means of expressing experiential stories of immigration and adaptation in Greece (women of Albanian origin). Yet, this work aims to highlight the use of digital narration as a tool for communication and exchange of immigration experiences.
The main question that this diploma thesis aims to explore is whether digital narrative gives women immigrants (Albanian origin) the opportunity to express themselves freely, to share and exchange their personal experiences about the experience of immigration. In addition, this diplomatic work attempts to detect whether the digital enrollment of these women has been enhanced by their involvement in a digital narrative workshop.
The survey sample consists of 4 participants from 48 to 57 years of age who have migrated to and stay in Greece for more than 5 years. The digital narratives were collected live through a workshop in six meetings aimed at creating meaningful material for the participants. The laboratory process was the subject of a participatory observation analysis, while at the end of the laboratory the participants' experience was checked using personal interviews.
