Summary:
Looking for a reasonable way of teaching certain units in Chemistry in Secondary Education, the aquarium was used as the suitable vehicle for their introduction. The method project is proposed for the development of the above issue. This project comes true through the prism of the interdisciplinary and emphasizing the environmental dimension of the subject.
In the following dissertation it is given the material for the integration of a project which has to do with the Chemistry of water through the study of an aquarium. Τhe educational proposal refers to the lesson of the Curriculum called: « Research study-Project» and aims to achieve clarification of various concepts through experimential actions. An approach and suggestion is made as to how chemical parameters, chemical compound concentrations and chemical reactions associated with the life and development of an aquarium could be used to teach chemistry.
Ιt is provided a suggested educational material managed by each teacher.The material of the thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical part and the part with the practical application. The first part includes the supporting material addressed to the teacher and provides the basic theoretical background for his preparatory preparation. In the second part there are proposed 20 meetings (19 in the classroom and one visit to the Hellenic Center for Marine Research "H.C.M.R.") which take place once or twice a week depending on whether the project is applied to A or B class of High School respectively. The implementation of the 20 meetings is supported by their indicative design, which includes the teaching content of each and is accompanied by the corresponding worksheets structured on the basis of the relevant theory and the experimental steps as well as the evaluation sheets.
