Immigrant pupils in integration sections. The application of modern forms of teaching. Teacher perceptions.
Summary:
Aim of this empirical research approach was to explore the views and attitudes of primary school teachers on the inclusion of migrant pupils with special educational needs and / or disabilities in the general classes of elementary school. In the present study, quantitative research was carried out using a survey questionnaire. The sample of the survey was a Primary and Secondary Education teachers who support immigrant pupils with special educational needs and / or disabilities in schools in the Attica region. From the results of the above research we observe that a significant contradiction is obvious: teachers would like to teach in the way they feel right, by approaching with love and respect the immigrant pupils who face special educational needs, however, the lack of time, the demanding analytical programs, and inadequate training on issues related to specific and intercultural education, are major obstacles to designing appropriate interventions, both for the for the holistic development of pupils and, consequently, towards the successful inclusion of migrant pupils with special educational needs in the general classes of the schools in our country.
