Summary:
The exploration of the wild beauty of winter always was a challenge for the human being. Either by skiing, walking or climbing, the snowy mountain offers countless opportunities for amusement to every visitor.
At the same time though, this environment can become extremely risky. The avalanches are one of the major dangers that every year they threaten villages and resorts on the mountains. Usually the articles that refer to the avalanches are written this way to scare the reader, presenting them like an unpredictable phenomenon that hits whenever and anyone living on the mountain. The truth is that avalanches require knowledge, so that we can predict them.
At the first part of the study we will deal with avalanches in general and at the second part with the case of the hotel RIgopiano in Italy, that on January 18th 2017 was destroyed by an avalanche, leading to death 29 visitors.
