Psychological resilience of primary school teachers, in general and special education.

The present study aims to investigate the psychological resilience of primary
school teachers, in general and special education. Resilient teachers may be
paradigms for the shaping of resilient children. Based on the aim of the study, some
individual aims are to find whether there is a differentiation in the psychological
resilience of teachers in general and special education, whether psychological
resilience differentiates based on some independent variables as gender, age, years in
service, educational level and the family status of teachers. The RS25 scale by
Wagnild & Young (1993) was used. The findings of this study show that teacher
psychological resilience differentiates on some characteristics among general and
special education teachers. As for gender and age, results showed that there is a
statistically important difference among male and female teachers Furthermore, there
is not a statistically important difference in the psychological resilience of teachers
based on their educational level. Lastly, the study of teacher psychological resilience
may contribute in further designing and application of prevention programs and
interventions in the interest of teachers and students.
