This work attempts to describe the contribution of Christos Giannaras to the evolution of Christian Ethics in the 20th century.
The first chapter describes the Moral Theology during the period in which Christos Giannaras begins his activity, along with the general theological atmosphere and the personalities that influenced him and shaped the character of his work.
In the second chapter of the first part, there is a more specific reference to the moral and theological condition of the Greek intellectual. His influences as well as the indivisible moral character of his writing presence are delineated.
The second part of this work explains the moral line of thought of Christos Giannaras and displays in chapters the basic aspects of his Moral Theology along with his criticism against the pietism and moralism of his era.
The last part of this work attempts a general assessment of the ethical work of Christos Giannaras. References are made to the new moral standards which emerge from the work of the Greek scholar and a short criticism is provided about his ethical work which highlights issues and questions that arise.
In conclusion, this work points out the study of the moral thought of Christos Giannaras as an act of theological self-consciousness and underlines the need of an exonerated treatment of the important work of this great personality of the 20th century.
