Summary:
Autism is one of the most serious and complex chronic developmental disorders that its incidence is increasing. Improving the social skills of a child with autism is a matter of intense reflection and dialogue between parents, educators and researchers. This dissertation was written as part of the postgraduate study "Special Education" and aims at exploring how a child with autism can benefit in cultivating social skills within a specific framework of structured activities. The issue is approached on a multifaceted basis by employing the method of case study. Specifically, the study conducted concerns the improvement of specific social skills and the mimetic capacity of a child with autism when participating in a specific framework of structured activities, and especially cognitive behavioral drama, for a period of eight months. In conclusion, improvement can be achieved by combining activities that are targeting at specific points.
