The role of HQA in higher education's study programmes' quality assurance and acceditation
Summary:
The topic of this paper is the role of Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency in higher education based on the procedure of university study programs’ assessment, through a critical analysis and reading of the law 4009/2011 and specifically the articles 70 and 71. The quality method implemented for the above research is Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis, which is a pluralistic method that approaches a written source from three aspects: as a text practice, as a discursive practice and as social practice, providing the researcher and the reader with as an objective view as possible about the topic and the relative “environment” of the source. Due to the fact that the assessment procedure has been approached with caution and suspicion not only in Hellenic public services, but also in Education, this paper aims to understand and present the role that this Hellenic Agency tries to achieve when universities of our country are assessed, according to European standards and guidelines, the formulation and implementation of which we have endorsed as members of the European family.
