Summary:
The thesis of the present dissertation involves the “Usage of ICTs in teaching of History in Primary School” for which an alternative teaching was made on chapters 31 and 32 on unit “Macedonia” of the Grade 4 History book. The research took place at Palladio Primary School in Nea Smyrni and 14 4th Grade pupils took part during the third quarter of the school year 2018 -2019. The aim of the research was to be investigated the impact of ICTs in History teaching in Primary School and specifically the combination of the roles of a researcher and a teacher. For this reason an action research was conducted which presents a method of teaching History with the use of various technological tools and programs, such as PowerPoint, YouTube, MindMup, Word etc. Sheets with exercises were written in order the pupils performance to be measured at the end of each lesson, a questionnaire was composed about children’s opinion for ICTs, a watch key was filled in about the participation of children and a team conversation took place which helped the pupils express themselves spontaneously. Action research is expected to produce positive results about the use of ICTs in History teaching and the action research itself will be proved an efficient and useful research method for the teachers.
