Summary:
This review of literature examines whether dance therapy is a means of enhancing self-esteem and self-esteem for mentally disabled people. Specific individuals with mental disability often have low self-esteem (self-image, self-image) due to daily failures due to high socio-cultural standards. This may affect the quality of life of gentlemen in subjective indices. Therefore, one of the main goals of dance therapy is to increase self-esteem, self-perception and body acceptance. Dance therapy can be used by those who need it. It leaps from educational dance and is conducted by trained qualified personnel as it is held by authorities’ subject to therapeutic purposes. It has been observed that it offers its goals what needs to be developed for people with intellectual disabilities both quality and quantitatively. And it is clear from existing research that there is a positive impact, namely emotional well-being (self-esteem) in the quality of life, physical expression (self-esteem, anxiety, aggression), socially and in friendship, levels of happiness. In conclusion, dance therapy seems to have a positive effect on the self-esteem and self-esteem of mentally disabled people. However, a small amount of studies was observed but a small unrepresentative sample in many of them. This, as a consequence, made the secondary objective of research the disclosure of the subject and the call of the specialists in the field of Adaptive Physical Education to be mixed. As a suggestion, reliable and valid research on dance therapy and self-esteem relationship with individuals with mental disability or people with obstacles to life in general is proposed.
