The figure of speech from the original to the translated text

The main purpose of this proposal is to examine how the figures of speech are preserved in the translations of original French poems in Modern Greek. The goal of the research is twofold: a) to study the transfer of the figures of speech to the translations and b) to detect the proximity between the translation and the original text.
Due to the wide range of French literature, we focused on selected works of French-speaking poets of the 19th and early 20th century. This period is of particular importance, due to the coexistence of many literary movements in poetry, but also in literature in general. In addition, in this period there has been an increased interest in translating French literature (and mainly poetry) into Greek, compared to earlier periods.
The originality of the research becomes clear as, while studies of the figures of speech have been carried out in an original text, the function of the figures of speech has never been studied in a complete scientific proposal. The significance of the results of the research lies in the fact that the adaptation of foreign literature to Greek reality is a large part of the wider literary tradition.
