Environmental internal control systems
Summary:
The main aspect of this thesis was to underline the need to create a strong environmental control method in European Union and its member States such as Greece. The thesis identifies the existing methods that European Union and its member States are currently using to protect the environment from the human factor and the nature itself.
Nevertheless, despite the enhanced methods compared to the older years, European
Union is not yet under the aegis of a full functional environmental protection sphere. The last decades, many severe and catastrophic natural disasters took place around the European continent, causing the loss of many human lives and damaged severely the natural environment. Large areas of forests have been burned, damaging the flora and fauna.
Furthermore, human activity in combination with industrial accidents caused water and air pollution problems to European civilians. To analyze this further, the thesis is developed as follows:
Firstly, the thesis analyzes the causes of the environmental crisis and the importance
and need for stronger and efficient environmental protection by quoting facts and incidents that took place and affected the European community and not only. It also mentions the impact of these disasters on the health and well-being of the European residents.
Furthermore, listed are the active mechanisms of environmental control that now
exist within the Europe and how these systems are set to protect the environment from
imminent disasters.
Afterwards, the thesis presents the existing methods of legal enforcement to the
Member State so as to pursue all means of the environmental protection.
From the research conducted it is shown that the European Union and its members
states are positive and willing to change their practices and methods to build a more
environmentally friendly and sustainable society. The European Union establishes compliant laws and regulations that all member states must follow. It has established as a surveillance method to keep responsible each country state for the establishment and compliance with the environmental actions and precautions within its territory.
Despite the present efforts, there are still many things that European Union and its
member states must do to succeed in creating and maintaining a sustainable environment.
The existing environmental control systems are not operating efficiently, and this can
be observed by the continuous severe disasters that keep happening every year within
Europe's continent. For example, wildfires, floods, chemical accidents, and sea and air
pollution are some of those incidents that keep existing and causing severe damaged not only to nature but also to human life.
The conclusion is that even though the European Union tries to find ways to protect
the environment, the results are not yet that effective and efficient to succeed in that endeavor.
Deeper analysis and preparation for the environmental protection is needed and the European Union must interfere in a stricter way to its member states to make it possible.
