Summary:
The following thesis is about the design and the application of an educational cultural program for the fourth grade of the elementary school. The program applied to the fourth grade of the 13th Elementary School of Kallithea in 2018-2019, and was about sponges and sponge divers, the people’s social and financial life in every occupation with emphasis in sponge diving , also about the history of sponges and the course of sponge diving in time. More thoroughly, we examine the popular professions, the family tradition and the profession of sponge diving, the tools, the machinery, the danger and the rituals that accompany the past, the present and the future. This effort was based on the principles of experiential-communication teaching and the implementation of projects. The evaluation of the program showed that the students responded positively to its actions and were able to achieve to the utmost the goals of the educational program.
