Summary:
In the present study, the way in which workers with mathematical anxiety experience, how they feel about it, and the situations that characterize the relationship between these people and mathematics, are investigated in their workplace. It’s been recorded in the bibliography and we expect that many professional everyday mathematical practices and activities don’t consider them mathematics. The case study was adopted as the research method, as we studied the sample of research on the basis of three different cases that were formed about the mathematical anxiety of these people in school years, but also today, the mathematics that they have followed in order to obtain their degree and the mathematics that they use in their workplace. Tools of the survey were a mathematical anxiety detection questionnaire and interviews. Regardless of the mathematics that participants finally recognize, we take into account in the interviews, the negative feelings about them and their anxiety as they have experienced it from school. So, the math they do every day and the way they deal with it are investigated. Therefore, the corresponding results were obtained, which were analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis. The conclusions of the survey suggest that the negative feelings created by people with mathematical anxiety as early as school years, characterize and influence situations in their workplace, in terms of the treatment of mathematics, their recognition and the professional development of individuals based on them.
