Teachers' views on integrating students with ASD
Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate teachers' views regarding the inclusion of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the mainstream school. For this purpose, a quantitative survey was carried out using a questionnaire sample of 123 primary and secondary teachers working in schools in the prefecture of Boeotia. According to the main results, the views and the attitudes of the participating teachers regarding the inclusion of students with ASD in the mainstream school environment are moderate. In addition, statistically significant differences were found in terms of gender, age, teaching experience, education, special education training, number of children in the classroom and educational level. Finally, perceived self-efficacy for managing students with ASD was also found to be an important factor influencing teachers' views about integrating children with ASD into the mainstream school.
