“Aesthetic experience, aesthetic judgments and historical knowledge. The contribution of art to the teaching of history lesson in Primary Education”.
Summary:
The purpose of this study was to prove whether and how aesthetic experience and the resulting aesthetic judgments activate the student's historical thinking and consciousness and lead to the discovery and formation of historical knowledge. The term "aesthetic experience" means a particular kind of perception and, at the same time, a particular mental state caused by the student's contact with the aesthetic object, while the term "aesthetic judgments" denotes the judgments that the student transmits in relation to the object of study. In this case, as aesthetic object is considered the artistic work. Through the bibliographical review, aesthetic experience and aesthetic judgments have been sufficiently and clearly connected with historical knowledge, thereby making the use of artwork in the teaching of history acceptable, beneficial and, ultimately, valuable.
