Summary:
ABSTRACT

The current assignment has researched the reflections of listening to music in the critical thinking and transformation of adults. More specifically, it has the conversation by studing the aid of listening to music in the orientation of adults for critical thinking and in the long run for transformative learning. The field of study has been Music Literacy as organic and irreplaceable part of Cultural Aesthetic Education in Second Chance Schools. The research pranning has utilized the qualitative multimethodological approach and specifically strategies and tools of method through art, action research and ethnographic method. The research sample has been ten adults, studing at the Second Chance School of Patras during school years 2016-2107 and 2017-2018. The analysis of data has shown that listening to music has activated cognitive and emotional structures involved into experience. Specifically, music has caused disorientating dilemmas, has operated as an emotional instrument case and has encouranged empathy moods. In parallel, it has been an instrument of pinpointing personal life experiences, cultural experiences, social and music stereotypes. The interactive dialogue with music works has awakened, has motivated the critical thinking and has aided towards causings changes in the system of thinking of trainees. From their interviews it has been shown that the adults involved in the educational process, which employs interacton with “listening texts”, have experienced a pleasant experience, have communicated, have thrown away gaps between them as well as realizing its correnspondence to updating the quality of the mind. The current research suggests and provides the beginning of thinking to adult trainers, so as to enrich their practices with the exploitation of listening to music, as well as guide with safety and respect the trainees towards more conscious choices, encouraging their self-competence and learning autonomy.
