Summary:
Music, according to surveys, has beneficial effects both for children of normal development and for children with special educational needs, as it has been observed that both brain hemispheres are activated by listening. The purpose of this paper is to study the efficacy of Music Therapy in children with ASD. Research has shown that children with autism who received Music therapy have improved their verbal, non-verbal and social skills. The research, which follows, summarizes the benefits of music for children with autism, as well as the views of experts on its usefulness. The survey is conducted with a questionnaire distribution. Education specialties (Educators, Music Educators, Music Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, EEP members) are involved. The research questions and the research hypotheses formulated study the effect of the independent variables of the sample (Gender, Age, Specialty, Experience, Special Education) on the dependent variables (questionnaire responses).
It was observed that the majority of the sample has good knowledge of the symptomatology and etiology of autism and insufficient knowledge of interventional methods and strongly supports the usefulness of Music Therapy in the skills of autistic children.
