The depiction of the different other and the interculturalism in school language textbooks of 6th grade of Primary School

The purpose of this paper was to examine the textbooks of the Primary School Language Classes on the depiction of the different 'other' (national and cultural) and the issue of interculturality. The subject of the research was the 5 textbooks that make up the language lesson as they were first released in the 2006-2007 school year. They were examined by the content of their texts with using the Context Analysis method. Several reports were collected based on categories related to the manifestations of intercultural education, which revealed that interculturalism extends beyond school textbooks, with frequent references to other peoples and cultures, and pupils are often invited to edit this material. However, a major shortcoming of the textbooks was judged to be the lack of critical thinking impulses towards inequality, which comes to the initiative, experience, knowledge and disposition of the teacher.
