Summary:
The main objective of this thesis, in the field of Environmental Education, is the examination of the creation, use and effectiveness of an environmental disaster web exploration, as well as its impact on the public of different educational levels, with the ultimate aim of informing, preventing and responding to such disasters.
The main part of the thesis analyzes the concept of education with a primary reference to Environmental Education, as well as environmental disasters (volcano, earthquake, forest fire, flood). Moreover, it analyzes the web exploration as a tool of teaching environmental subjects as well as the way of its creation.
Specifically, it refers to the function of web explorations as modules scripts, in which the main goal is the extraction and processing of information from the Internet while they are organized in the form of web pages, the media used such as databases, texts, digital encyclopedias, web pages, etc., its basic building blocks ie introduction - work - process - evaluation - conclusions - means used - sources. The features of a web exploration, the potential goals of its design, the search stages and the stages to complete the project are mentioned and analyzed. The search stages include the definition of the research question, the information search strategy, the identification, access and critical evaluation, the customization, the organization of the information, the composition and the evaluation. The steps to complete the project are presented extensively and in detail.
The methodology incorporates the use of the Zunal digital platform through which each web exploration is created. This enables the inquiry, communication, and participation in group activities on a specific subject.
Finally, the created web explorations on issues of natural disasters, conclusions and suggestions are presented.
