Basic Principles of Questioning Synthesis

The inexhaustible cultural heritage of our country, as it is understood, turned the preoccupation of modern Greeks to it. Having all the modern methods of studying the antiquities, the research and the engagement with them, was and still is continuous. Architects, archaeologists, physicists, mathematicians, philosophers and people in general, gain from this miracle that happened in this place 2500 years ago. Naturally, a large part of the study is the Sacred Rock and especially the Parthenon.

The Parthenon, however, was not always in the form we know it today. All these thousands of years that he stands on the rock of the Acropolis, has passed through periods that left their mark on him. But the Acropolis of Athens as a whole was different depending on the period.

The monuments of the Acropolis, as we know them today, have this form because scientists have decided and restored them based on the image that the monuments had in the classical period. Many changes that the monuments have undergone in the various periods that have passed, have been lost.

The phases that passed, good or bad, create the history of each monument. It's part of it. The various phases that the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis went through, although now they are not distinct, the purpose of this essay is to restore them with a modern look - installations.

The ancient road of the conveyance of stone is the route of transport of marbles from the quarries of Penteli to the rock of the Acropolis. Although at the moment there is no distinct part of it, Manolis Korres has traced it. Based on this route we choose 7 points that we will intervene in order for each point to refer to an important period that passed the Parthenon mainly but also the Acropolis as a whole.
The interventions will be constructions (installations) that will refer to the changes that the monuments received in each period, in order for the visitor to be able to better understand the history of the Acropolis of Athens. The constructions will not be identical with the changes that the monuments underwent in each phase, but an effort is made in a more abstract way, symbolically, to give the stigma of each era of that time and to remind the visitor of the greatness of the monuments that after so many years and so many phases the monuments are there, standing and communicating with us.

The basic periods spent by the Ancient Rock of the Acropolis are seven, so there are seven points we choose to intervene. These points are located along the entire length of the route - ancient conveyance of stone and have been selected because they are busy and have interest due to buildings or monuments that we will communicate with the constructions that will be constructed.
As a starting point we choose to study from the construction of the Parthenon onwards, the changes accepted by the Parthenon and the Sacred Rock as a whole.
