An approach of interpretive dialogue through a network of bonsai texts
Summary:
This qualitative design-based research is carried out in the framework of the postgraduate program Educational Design and Teaching and aims to investigate the contribution of bonsai texts in promoting the method of interpretive dialogue in literature education. After delivering a pilot lecture concerning a network of bonsai texts to the first grade of High School, I examined the students' perceptions regarding the taught educational material as well as its contribution to the activation of the reading practice of the interpretive dialogue. The findings were collected mainly by the students' oral speech during the focus group interview, while the observation of the teaching and the researcher’s diary played a supportive role. The thematic analysis was chosen for the data analysis stage. The research revealed that students were not only able to identify the key characteristics of the type of bonsai texts and express their opinions regarding them, but also to appraise the contribution of these texts to the interpretive dialogue.
