Représentations du geste et aspects de sa valorisation en classe de langue
Summary:
Gesture are a part of our daily life, we are frequently using them as we are talking for several reasons. But when we are travelling, are in contact with different culture or learning a new language, gesture can have others significations. This is the reason why we were wondering about the diversity of gesture and how their representation can vary to/toward person with a different culture. This is the principal problematic this thesis tries to answer and giving his best to find element to adapt the teacher gesture in class. To begin with this work, it gives the theoretical basis of gesture in teachings methodologies that are using it, then it’s looking for bringing elements on the nature of gesture used by the human following with the ones of the teacher. All of that before presenting the cognitive input and finally explain the cultural heritage of this one. Secondly, we will present our empirical part which is looking to understand the representation of ten people, five French, five Greek, have of different gesture, also their utilization. From those interviews, we will try to give answer to our questions, check our hypothesis but more important to understand those representations and experiences with gesture. As it is, of course, a research towards teaching French as foreign language we will try to give answer on the adaptability of the gestures of the teacher alongside of his students. With the aim of helping them to understand French language through gesture and avoid cultural misinterpretation.
