ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR CHILDREN WITH DEFICIENT ATTENTION DISORDER AND HYPERMINITY: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Summary:
Introduction: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). is one of the most commonly occurring developmental disorders of childhood, which can often be present after adulthood.
Aim: The investigation of the reliability of the Children’s Color Trails Test in the diagnosis of children with ADHD, as well as the presentation of other tools and tests used in the diagnosis of children with ADHD.
Methods: Search was performed on PubMed on May 19, 2020 with the keywords: “children’s color trails test”, "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder", "assessment tools" and children, without time limit for the publication of scientific papers. Studies were excluded if they were not published in English language, were conducted on animals and were case studies, editorials, and letters to the editor.
Results: Of the scientific papers retrieved, 10 were included in the systematic review. There is a great variety of assessment tools, which can be used both for the diagnosis of ADHD in children, as well as for the evaluation of the efficancy of treatment, but also for distinguishing children with ADHD from those with other types of cognitive and learning disorders. There are tools that can be used by teachers and parents, in addition to health professionals, to evaluate children with ADHD.
Conclusions: There is a wide variety of both printed and electronic tools for the assessment of children with ADHD, which can help to improve the care provided and consequently the quality of life of these children.
