Summary:
The present thesis constitutes an approach and an in-depth analysis of a post-Byzantine theoretical treatise written by an unknown author. This text is of great musical interest because it is an attempt to promote the musical knowledge and the pedagogical value of Byzantine Music Interval Signs. The first part of the thesis focuses on the musicological analysis of the treatise, while its second part aims to highlight the pedagogical dimension of the same text. The assessment and analysis of teaching materials and strategies, along with the learning outcomes, are issues of high importance. Lastly, the emphasis lies upon the author’s evaluation as a person and as an educator.
