Summary:
Emotional Intelligence, the ability of an individual to recognize self –emotions and others, can be proved an asset in academic achievement. Growing and developing EI can reinforce many parts of the educational everyday life, such as students’ self discipline, their attitude towards school rules, the quality of the learning process or the students’ efficiency during learning. Social and Emotional Learning can contribute to children acquire skills, attitudes and values, with a view to social competence. This set of skills can be raised in students throughout a SEL intervention program. Students with SEL skills is more likely to achieve better in school, become more confident, develop and preserve interpersonal realtionships. The aim of this study was to deliberate the impact of an SEL educational program in fourth grade (4th year of elementary school) students. In order to meet the investigation needs, a SEL program was designed and carried out. A PATH’s evaluation kit was completed by three teachers. The findings showed a correlation between implementation of a program and students’ emotional competence improvement. In conclusion, improving Emotional Intelligence can οffer students multiple benefits in elementary school students’ development.
