Summary:
This thesis presents the execution of geotechnical research for the ''RECOVERY OF CONTROL IN THE INSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE OF THE PUBLIC OF OLYMPIA'', in the settlement of Kafkania.
The purpose of this work is to determine the geotechnical conditions at the location of the landslide by performing (-3-) sample rotary drilling and to evaluate the results including stratigraphy, groundwater level, stability checks and landslide recovery proposals.
The results of the geotechnical survey carried out to restore the landslide at the entrance to the settlement of Kaukanias, i.e. the intersection of the drilling subsoil, the results of on-site and laboratory tests, stability checks and the proposed measures for the restoration of the landslide, are also presented.
For the determination of the geotechnical conditions of the study area, 3 rotary sampling drillings were carried out marked Γ1, Γ2 and Γ3 with a depth of 14.90m , 18.90m and 16.00m , respectively.
In more detail, the following topics are discussed in the following chapters:
The first chapter mentions general and informative information on landslides (types of landslides, causes of the phenomenon and some possible measures to deal with them).
The second chapter gives general data on the area under study including geomorphology, geology and stratigraphy of the region, data on its seismicity and the tectonics of the region as well as hydrogeological, hydrological and meteorological data.
The third chapter refers to geotechnical investigations aimed at clarifying the properties of geological formations as well as their failure mechanism, determining the sliding surface and paying particular attention to groundwater which plays a decisive role in the stability of the area in question. The depths of the 3 drillings carried out and further laboratory tests of the samples shall also be analyzed.
In the fourth chapter, according to the section of drilling and on-site laboratory tests, the geotechnical layers are detailed. Stability check shall also be carried out using the SLIDE program where the different slip cycles have been examined and the cycle with the minimum safety factor has been determined. On the basis of these results, the cause of the reported failure became known.
Chapter 5 mentions possible protection measures based on the results of stability checks.
