Chiral and gauge supersymmetric theories
Summary:
The present thesis is an introduction to chiral and gauge supersymmetric theories. First of all, we extend the Poincaré algebra and construct the super-Poincaré group, to which the supersymmetric transformations belong. Also, we identify the representations of the super-Poincaré group and classify the particles into supermultiplets. Moreover, we study the simplest chiral supersymmetric theory, directly from the supersymmetric transformations of the fields, without the use of superfields. Furthermore, we define the chiral and vector superfields and use them for the construction of supersymmetric Lagrangians, which will describe chiral supersymmetric systems. Additionally, we examine the conditions under which supersymmetry is spontaneously broken and present the F-term supersymmetry breaking. Subsequently, we construct the supersymmetric extension of the electromagnetic gauge theory. Finally, we consider the spontaneous breaking of the gauge symmetry, as well as the D-term supersymmetry breaking.
