Detection and mapping of water sources on the island of Tinos
Summary:
The main purpose of this study was to identify and record the water springs on the island of Tinos and to assess their water quality. Based on HMGS maps (scale 1:5000), a geological and topographic map was created as well as an orthophoto map, with the sources also shown on on them. Using data from the field exercise and from literature research, a geological classification of the rocks of the area was carried out; this was also linked with the location of the springs as well as the quality of their water. More than 60 springs were identified and 13 of them were reviewed in detail.
