Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to collect and compare digital geological and zoning data in a GIS environment for the Ilisos river in the period from 1895 to date. Also, through this thesis, it will be attempted to give an overview of the evolution of the general categories of land use and their contents. More specifically, through a comparison of land use on the map of Curtius with the current uses of Earth from the maps of the Enterprise Policy Planning Directorate and Urban Area, and in conjunction with the use of the ArcMap software, there will be a big change in the categories due to urbanization of the region around river Ilisos and in the wider Attica region. Finally, this work focuses on the role of Geographic Information Systems, with a view to highlighting them as regards the rational management, organization and visualization of urban data.
