Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review and analyze the key factors of warming up in soccer before training and before the match.

The databases and electronic libraries which were used to search for the relevant studies was: Google Scholar, SportDiscus, Pubmed, Sportedu, Online library, Springer link, Tandonline. As search criteria were: Warm-up goal, warm-up structure, stretching content and duration of warm-up, activation techniques.

The results of this review showed that the goal of warm up is versatile and related to the physical, psychological, mental, technical and regular preparation of soccer players as well as injury prevention and performance improvement. Regarding the structure and content of warm-up, specific warm-up effectively contributes to the complete preparation of the soccer player for the next explosive activity. Different articles suggest that soccer exercises should be included from the beginning of warm-up such as small side games and soccer drills. Dynamic stretching improves footballers' performance and has now replaced static stretching during pre-workout warm-up or training. Regarding the stages, research shows that avoiding long periods of rest after warming up improves explosive performance. In addition, it is recommended to use warm clothes during halftime break, in order to maintain the temperature of the muscles. They also suggest an active warm-up with explosive exercises or small side games before the beginning of a game. Regarding rewarm up of soccer players, it is reported that improves their performance and reduces the risk of injuries.

In conclusion, the present study can be a handbook for coaches so that they can design a more effective warm-up for soccer players depending on the goal of following exercise. We suggest further investigation of the issue based on different age groups.
