Burnout and Job Satisfaction of Special Educational Staff, Special Supporting Staff and Teachers During Pandemic COVID-19
Summary:
The outbreak of COVID-19 brought about significant changes. Education was one of the disciplines that was affected from pandemic, due to shift from traditional teaching to online courses and work. This brought about challenges to teachers, Special Supporting Staff and Special Educational Staff who had to deal with changes in their working conditions. Thus, the aim of the present study was to examine burnout and job satisfaction during pandemic. In this study took part 758 participants (teachers, Special Supporting Staff and Special Educational Staff) who were working in typical and special education schools, educational diagnostic centers and private working sector. They completed a questionnaire which included demographic data, the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) and the Employee Satisfaction Inventory (ESI). Results indicated negative correlation of job satisfaction factors with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and positive correlation with personal accomplishment. This study also found that there were differences between specialties as regarding the factors of job satisfaction, and between employees working at different working places as regarding the emotional exhaustion and satisfaction from working conditions, payment, promotional opportunities and organization as a whole. Finally, job satisfaction factors and demographic variables predicted burnout dimensions.
