Le roman épistolaire, instrument d’acquisition du FLE et de pratique des compétences sociolinguistiques des étudiants étrangers
Summary:
The epistolary novel, a very popular literary genre in the 17th and 18th centuries, is one of the least exploited nebulous literary genres in language and culture classes. However, its specificities and its didactic transpositions make it rich and particularly useful in language study or writing practice. Thus, in a world where literature rhymes
mainly with the classical novel, poetry and drama, the epistolary novel can also be a learning tool on which learners can build and perfect their expressive skills. The cardinal objective of this dissertation is to analyse the importance and place of the epistolary novel in the language and culture class, and more specifically of learners of French as a foreign language. This research, with sociolinguistic and literary aims,
will take shape through an exhaustive study of the epistolary novel under several aspects. The first step will be a synthetic and historical support of the epistolary novel. We will then put this into practice through an effective didactisation of the epistolary novel and its paradigms, which we will test with the Greek university public through the setting up of an epistolary writing workshop.
