Summary:
In the present dissertation the tsunami ripples are studied with special emphasis on the eastern Mediterranean. Initially in the first chapter a general introduction to tsunamis is given giving a definition, giving examples and mainly explaining the causes that can create such a phenomenon. In addition to the examples given, an assessment is made of the damage caused to local human communities.
The second chapter of the dissertation describes the methodology used and applied, identifies the characteristics of the study area, the eastern Mediterranean, as well as the purpose of the thesis.
The third chapter, which is the main part of the dissertation, lists the recorded tsunami incidents in the eastern Mediterranean, assesses the risks of such incidents in the future and how to deal with them. It also explains the reasons why in some cases the tsunamis were overestimated resulting in some incorrect recordings.
Finally, there is a brief chapter of general and practical conclusions that emerged from what was explained in the dissertation.
