Summary:
The present work was carried out as part of the graduation thesis of the undergraduate study program of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment. Its purpose is to study the vulnerability of buildings in the urban area of Mandra, Attica, as it changed after the catastrophic flood of 15-11-2017. Even if many methods have been developed for the prediction of the vulnerability of buildings in urban areas, they can still be improved in respect to the sensitivity of each individual building. Also, this study aims to determine the characteristics of a building which make the possibility of flood higher. The study uses Google Street View to look at 131 buildings known to have flooded after heavy rains in 2017 in Mandra, Attica (specifically those on Vangeli Koropouli Street) and to compare them with features of buildings that did not have been flooded.
