Impact of physical activity on patients with Substance Use Disorders : Iimplementation of the 'Made2Move' program
Summary:
In this study was examined the impact of the "Made2Move" program (M2M) on people with Substance Use Disorders (SUD). There were 4 men aged 35 to 62 who were in the process of detoxification and were hosted at the IONIS Hotel in Omonia(hostel for homeless drug users) . The "IPAQ" questionnaire was used to conduct the research, the "M2M" program was implemented and the "Pacemaker" mobile phone application was implemented. The M2M program is based on the theory of self-determination where mentors by providing support, motivation and setting small goals, motivate participants to increase their physical activity through daily activities. The results showed that the program had a positive effect on increasing physical activity in some participants, but without the possibility of generalization. The implementation of the program had limitations that need to be re-evaluated in the future before final conclusions can be drawn.
