Summary:
This particular thesis focuses on the use of social media as a way to relieve the stress of the Covid-19 pandemic in young people aged 18-30. More specifically, an attempt was made to examine whether social media could be used appropriately to help decrease stress. In order to test the effectiveness of social media as a means of decreasing stress, social media pages have been created and their results are reflected in this thesis. The aim of this work is to create an online community including the generated pages mentioned above. In order to research and evaluate this process, surveys was conducted, which consists of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
The research process was implemented in two stages. In the first stage the quantitative research was carried out by providing a questionnaire, which was answered exclusively by people in the age group of 18-30 according to the age goal set for the present work. During this process participants were asked to give their opinion, answering the question whether a community on social media could be a way to relieve stress. Then the social media pages were created, including content suggested by the participants in the first stage of the research. In the second stage the qualitative research method is carried out and presented in a form of a group interview. Following the addition of relevant content to the created pages, participants were asked to express their views on the effectiveness the pages offer, in a group interview process.
Finally, the conclusions resulting from the combination of research results are reflected. More specifically, the last chapters of this paper include the conclusions resulting from the questionnaire the group interview and the operation of the pages created. The conclusions combine the research results, the observations of the page manager as well as the views of the audience that participated in the web pages. In addition, proposals for the improvement of the project are presented along with additional actions that could be avoided, in order to be more effective.
