Summary:
According to recent research, decays of B mesons exhibit indications of deviations from the Standard Model. This phenomenon is due to the possible violation of Lepton Flavor Universality, a pillar of the Standard Model, which was observed during the mesons’ decays with at least one b quark. The study which follows concentrates on the research of Lepton Flavor Universality carried out by CMS, CERN. Initially, we demonstrate the differences in the distributions of the kinematical characteristics of the particles which participate in the decay modes: B⁰→J/ψK*⁰, J/ψ→μμ , B⁰→ψ(2S)K*⁰, ψ(2S)→μμ and B⁰→μμK*⁰. We then compute and compare the terms acceptance×efficiency (α×ε) of trigger HLT_Mu9_IP6 of the CMS experiment for the above three decay modes of meson B⁰.
