Strategic Communication, Environmental Disaster Crisis Management and Post-Crisis Communication in the Digital Age.
Summary:
This paper aims to define the role of crisis communication whether from public bodies, private companies, and civil organizations in cases of emergency in general and communication in cases of environmental accidents in particular, through the study of international literature and articles, as well as the study of case studies with a significant environmental footprint. The role of communication during an emergency and the communication management of emergency events is very important, which makes it a field of great academic interest.
The case studies explored in this paper are the communication management of the Mexico oil spill and the oil spill by Exxon Valdez in Alaska, and the disaster communication response of the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear accidents. Through the case studies and the relevant literature and articles, this paper aims to answer the question of whether there are differences between the way public bodies, private companies, and civil society organizations communicate environmental disasters, and what those differences are.
