Summary:
This diploma thesis examines the planning and communication methods of the three NGO
Organizations ActionAid Hellas, Médecins Sans Frontières and Médecins du Monde in
emergencies situations around the world to find and collect resources with the ultimate goal of
assisting in the field. Fundraising is at the heart of it, the method of raising resources for a specific
purpose and in our case for support through donations from the public for the relief of those
affected in emergenciessituations on the planet. An extensive analysis is carried out in a theoretical
context regarding the humanitarian sector, the emergencies situation of a disaster, as well as
modern tactics of communication strategy using the Internet. The main pillars of the analysis of
the present research are the ways of communication and presentation of the events by the above
Non-Governmental Organizations, the procedures and means of attracting the public, the
encouragement of strengthening their action and relieving those affected through donations and
the overall framing of this purpose.
Two cases of appeal are characteristically analyzed by all three Organizations. The wave of the
COVID-19 pandemic that hit India very hard with thousands of deaths in its wake, as well as the
explosion in Beirut, which caused enormous damage with many deaths and required help from the
World Community. At the same time, this paper also used quantitative analysis using a
questionnaire to collect views from the public, as well as a quantitative analysis of the Twitter
accounts of the three Organizations with basic Python knowledge. A quantitative survey, which
aims to present the public's opinion towards the action of Non- Governmental Organizations and
to analyze their tactic and way of communication, from platforms such as Twitter.
