Linguistic Integration of Adult Refugees and Asylum Seekers: A Case Study of the Application of the L.I.A.M Toolkit in the Greek context.

This research paper aims to examine the tools of the online toolkit created by the Council of Europe under the Linguistic Integration of Adult Migrants (LIAM) program and to examine how language support is achieved for refugees and recognized asylum seekers in courses utilized by the L.I.A.M. in the Greek context. Specifically, this is a qualitative research with seven participating teachers from NGOs of Attica and Thessaloniki who use the toolbox in their lessons. According to the analysis of the data, the usefulness and offer of the toolbox seemed quite useful and important, without being the only educational aid in their teaching, but with the toolbox functioning as an adjunct and in combination with the other educational manuals used by teachers in their lessons. In any case, a more extensive research would shed more light on the extent to which linguistic support for refugees and asylum seekers in Greece is achieved in courses utilized by the L.I.A.M. toolkit, overcoming the limitations of this research.
