"DEVELOPING A SERIOUS GAME «GREEN HOUSE», WITH THE PURPOSE OF STRENGTHENING THE ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN"
Summary:
This dissertation presents an effort to create and design the Serious Game "Green
House" for preschool children, with the aim of enhancing their environmental
awareness. It also oversees the adoption of good practices in terms of the proper
recycling process and in terms of energy savings, and prudent water use. The urgent
need for the integration of New Technologies in the educational foreground has an
impact the increasing use of technological means for the acquisition of knowledge and
skills. An example of such a tool is digital games, and in particular serious games, since
we are not talking about the entertainment part, but the educational part. Therefore, in
the first part of the work, reference is made to the bibliographic review and clarification
of key concepts for research, such as what the Unity machine is and serious games.
Next, corresponding surveys are presented, which were a key factor in the composition
of the work. The second part presents the necessary actions taken by the researcher to
design the "Green House", through its extensive presentation. It then introduces the
reader to the process of methodology and implementation of the educational intervention. The following is the analysis of the data, resulting from the semi-structured interview and participatory observation. Moving on to the last chapter, our conclusions lead to reflections and future suggestions for similar research.
