Design and development of a repository of educational resources for teaching Computer Science, without the use of a Computer (CSU- Computer Science Unplugged), to Primary and Secondary Education students.
Summary:
The dynamic integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education is taking place at a rapid pace and concerns all levels of education. This, combined with the fact that Technology governs every human activity from science and work to culture and interpersonal relationships, leads to the need for in-depth knowledge of Computer Science. In recent years, the Computer Science Unplugged (CSU) approach has been at the center of interest and seems to produce excellent educational results. In this study, the qualitative analysis of 79 postgraduate theses with educational scenarios in this field is carried out as well as their classification according to the evaluation criteria of the Year, the Subject, the Class, the Duration, the Pilot application, and their Activities. From this overview it follows that teachers choose Algorithms as a dominant Subject in their educational planning, which always includes some Application/ Consolidation activity and very often Diagnostic/ Induction and Evaluation activities. In addition, the direct influence of the Covid-19 pandemic is highlighted, which was to a large extent a brake on the Pilot application of the educational scenarios.
The 79 papers, after their classification, constituted the digital material for the design and development of the CONSEDRE repository of educational resources, which serves the purpose of this paper. CONSEDRE aims to contribute to the teaching of Computer Science Unplugged, as an open, innovative for the greek reality and a powerful supporting tool in the hands of teachers of all levels.
