Ανασκόπηση των ρωσοφινλανδικών σχέσεων υπό το βάρος του Χειμερινού Πολέμου (1939-1940): Αίτια, εξέλιξη και αποτελέσματα της σύρραξης

Reviewing the russo-finnish relationships under the weight of the Winter War (1939-1940): Roots, progression and outcomes of the conflict
Summary:
The examination of the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-40, generates questions which have concerned scholars to this day. The first of those questions, are related with the causes that provoked the outbreak of the conflict. In order to understand them in a better fashion, it is necessary to analyze the historical past of the protagonists, since it’s idiosyncratic nature was brutally expressed with the “Winter War”
The development of the war, proved to be a rather ominous issue for the USSR, with the latter believing that the conflict would be swiftly resolved. As a review of the Russo-Finnish relationships under the weight of its historical present, this project does not focus on a detailed narration of the events of the Winter War. This venture has been settled effectively by historians of the 20th and 21st century. In contrast, this review aims to analyze the factors that provoked the outbreak of the war, the conditions that shaped its outcome and its consequences in its historical future.
As a main guideline of this project, stand the deeply rooted phenomena that shaped the Russo-Finnish relationships far before the outbreak of the Winter War and continue to do so after its conclusion. Based on these, it is possible to create a spherical view for the past of the two countries, as well as a comparison measure for the dark pages of the present that we are currently transcending.
