Working conditions and opportunities for the Greek LGBTQI community: paving the way for an equal rights future and opportunities.
Summary:
This thesis aims to study the everyday life of LGBTI workers and LGBTI people looking
for work in Greece. Initially, the theoretical framework will be defined with a small
historical review of the discrimination that the LGBT community has experienced
over the years.
Then the definition of labor rights and the forms of their violation will be formulated.
The following chapters will refer to the everyday life of LGBT workers in the US and
Europe, as well as anti-discrimination measures, they have implemented.
The next chapter is dedicated to Greece and the recent efforts to limit discrimination
against the LGBT community with the first National Strategy for Equality. In addition,
important communication campaigns that aim to educate the public will be
discussed.
Finally, the paper intends to evaluate the actions taken by the State and the Civil
Society based on, among other things, how informed the members of the LGBT
community are about the changes in the legal framework and how safe they feel.
