Summary:
The subject of this thesis was the study of job satisfaction. The aim was to investigate the factors that affect employee satisfaction, both in the existing literature and empirically, in the financial and banking sector in Greece. For the purpose of the survey, the quantitative method was chosen, using an electronic questionnaire. The sample of the study consisted of 315 employees in the banking sector in Greece. The factors of job satisfaction that were examined were the main factors highlighted by the literature review: education, supervisory role, policies and procedures, the meaning of work, work stress, reward system and perception of instructions. For the analysis of the data, the statistical program SPSS IBM Statistics V21 was used. The Cronbach's alpha reliability control characterised all the variables in the questionnaire vas ery satisfactory regarding their reliability. From the present research it appeared that the factor "Perception of instructions " is the factor that most (and positively) affects job satisfaction. The next factor that marked a strong positive correlation with job satisfaction was "The meaning of work", followed by "Education", "Reward system", "Supervisory role" and "Introduction to policies and procedures", in descending order. The factor "Work-related stress" seemed to significantly and negatively affect the levels of job satisfaction.
